How to set up regular and scheduled keywords.

A quick overview on how add individual keywords.

⚠️ Running a National Campaign like Summer Cash? Keywords for national campaigns work differently — they are managed via the Prizes tab, not the Keyword or Keyword+ field. See the National Campaign Keywords section below before making any changes.

Keyword entries involve participants entering a specific word or phrase to access and complete as experience entry. This approach enhances engagement, simplifies participation, and provides insights into experience reach. When adding a keyword to your experience, it's important to know that there are two ways of achieving that.

Adding a regular keyword (Keyword field option): This option allows you to add keywords that will remain valid throughout the entire time of your experience or until you delete them.

To set up a regular keyword you need to first add the "Keyword" field to your entry form.

Click Add Field > Other Fields > Keyword

You would then type the word into the keyword field. You can also add multiple keywords by clicking "Add Keyword".

Adding a scheduled keyword (Keyword + field option): This functions similar to the normal Keyword field, but you can schedule when the keyword is active during the experience. If you set a date and time on each keyword, it will only be accepted during that timeframe.

To set the schedule of a keyword you need to first add the "Keyword +" field to your entry form.

Click Add Field > Other Fields > Keyword +

Once it is added to your entry form it will take you into the settings of the Keyword + field.

It's as simple as typing the word into the keyword field and selecting a start and end date.

If the schedule field is left blank, the keyword will be correct throughout the entirety of the experience.

You can add multiple keywords by clicking "Add Keyword" and going through the same process as above.

When scheduling multiple keywords, it is generally recommend to match the amount entries users are allowed to x per day, x being the number of active keywords there are per day. That can be changed on Step 1 of the form.

National Campaign Keywords (e.g. Summer Cash)

National campaigns like Summer Cash use a Countdown experience, which manages keywords differently from custom contests. Keywords are pre-configured and managed under the Prizes tab — do not add a Keyword or Keyword+ field to the entry form of a national campaign contest.

How the 60-Minute Acceptance Window Works

Each keyword in a national campaign can only be accepted for 60 minutes after it is announced on-air. This is a fixed national campaign constraint and cannot be changed. For example, if a keyword is announced at 11:00 PM, it will be accepted until 12:00 AM midnight — but you cannot configure a keyword to be accepted all day.

Rearranging Keyword Times

To adjust when a keyword is active during the day:

  1. Go to the Prizes tab in your contest builder.

  2. You will see blue circles representing each keyword time slot.

  3. Drag the blue circles to move a keyword to the correct time position.

  4. Click 'Use as Template' to apply the same time arrangement to all days.

Enabling and Disabling Keywords

You cannot enable or disable individual keywords in a national campaign. If you do not want to use a specific keyword, simply do not announce it on-air — the keyword will remain in the system but listeners will not be able to enter it. Weekend keywords in Summer Cash are turned off by default and cannot be activated.

Changing Keyword Text

Pre-established keywords can be changed by clicking on them in the Prizes tab. You can update the keyword text to match what you intend to announce on-air.
